Travelers with Disabilities

Disney has equipped its ships with a variety of amenities geared toward those guests with special needs. Many measures have been taken to make your stay comfortable and effortless as possible. Both Disney ships have 16 staterooms that are equipped for guests using wheelchairs. These cabins are available in categories, 3, 5, 6, 8, and 11. They have ramped bathroom thresholds, open bed frames, added phones in the bathroom and on the nightstand, bathroom and shower handrails, fold down shower seats, handheld showerheads, lowered towel and closet bars, and emergency call buttons.

Closed captioning is available for stateroom TV’s and some onboard video monitors. Stateroom Communication Kits may be reserved upon request. They include door knock and phone alerts, phone amplifier, bed shaker notification, a strobe light smoke detector, and a test typewriter (TTY).  There is no extra charge for the kit, but supplies are limited. Request it when you make your reservation and confirm it prior to sailing.

Wheelchair accessible restrooms are available in all common areas on board the ship.  There are transfer tiers at the Quiet Cove pool.  (Each is a multi-step tier and is not automatic. To use it guests must be able to lift themselves out of his or her chair.)  Sand wheelchairs are available at Castaway Cay.  American Sign Language interpretation is available for live performances on designated cruise dates. (The service is not available on every cruise, so be sure to start planning your trip well in advance.)
